RockTropia's zombie content is the longest progression on the planet, and none of it is available when you land. Two things stand between you and it: a fetch quest in a nightclub, and a long walk north.
Part one: the phone
The sequence starts at the Noobs Noobs Noobs club, south-east of the Hyperplex teleporter at 135277, 88167, 107. It is a chain of errands with no mission tracker, so the order matters.
- Speak to Big Boy at the club.
- Speak to Tipsy Tony, at the end of the line.
- Speak to Lying Larry, inside the pawnshop next door.
- Back to Big Boy.
- Speak to Gus at the petrol station across the road, and take the gold coin.
- Back to Big Boy.
- Back to Gus, who gives you a glam ingot.
- Give the glam ingot to Big Boy. This opens the next stretch.
- Head east down the road toward Try. The mission locator points the way from here.
- Speak to Boris the Bum, near Try.
- Go to the dumpster the locator marks.
- Return to Boris and give him the smokes.
- Return to Big Boy and give him the ROCKtropia record.
That gets you into the club proper. Inside:
- Speak to Tiffany on the dance floor for a cocktail.
- Give the cocktail to Cynthia, also on the dance floor, and she hands you a cellphone.
The cellphone is the point of the whole errand. It also opens several repeatable missions.
Part two: The Road to War
The Road to War is taken from Lt. Funk, south of City of Dreams at 136215, 84726. It is not a kill mission. It is a thirteen-leg walk from the south of the map up into Zomhatten, and it is what unlocks both the Boot Camp chain and the Police Academy chain.
| Leg | Go to |
|---|---|
| 1 | Cave entrance, 136063, 84818 |
| 2 | Cave exit, 135723, 84998 |
| 3 | Main road, 135420, 85058 |
| 4 | Follow the road north, 135128, 85981 |
| 5 | Continue down the road, 135426, 87127 |
| 6 | Centre of New Harlem Studios, 135462, 87998 |
| 7 | The docks, 135844, 88390 |
| 8 | Cross the water, 135756, 89245 |
| 9 | Coast of Zomhatten, 136490, 90339 |
| 10 | Follow the coast, 136587, 92028 |
| 11 | Keep going, 136773, 92709 |
| 12 | BAMF HQ, 136449, 93062 |
| 13 | Speak to Drill Sgt. Breakerz, 136189, 93056 |
Leg 8 is wrong in game. The waypoint the mission marker drops on your map for crossing the water does not work. Go to 135756, 89245 instead.
What opens up
Reaching Drill Sgt. Breakerz starts Boot Camp, five missions running 50, 100, 500, 5,000 and 10,000 zombies. After each one, read the completion text: it names the NPC holding the next mission. Skip it and you are left clicking every soldier in the camp to find out who is next.
Boot Camp 5 pays out the B.A.M.F Tactical Radio, and that is the real reward. It is required equipment for the National Guard chain that follows, which runs 1,000 to 15,000 zombies across six missions.
Two things will cost you a mission's worth of kills on that chain if you do not know them:
- Keep the radio at the top level of your inventory, not inside a container, before the final kill of every mission. Some missions update the moment you make the last kill, others send you to an NPC. Either way, no radio means the mission bugs and has to be abandoned and restarted from zero.
- Support Recon comes from Bruiser at FOXTROT Company, but Bruiser will not talk to you first. Visit Cpt. ECHO Company at
137306, 95316, 112, who sends you on.
If an NPC refuses to give you a mission and tells you to finish what you already have open, your radio needs repairing. Mobile Mike at City of Dreams, 136353, 84753, 237, is the only stand that does it.
