The No Way Out maximum security prison is the largest single block of content on RockTropia: around 40,000 kills across four tiers, followed by an escape sequence and a set of Company missions. It is also the only content on the planet where wandering into the wrong room kills you outright.
Getting in
You have to commit a crime, and the game is specific about how.
- Take the lockpick from the dumpster at
135427, 88116. It gives you no interaction cursor. Click it anyway. - Go to the Tangerine teleporter,
134411, 83613. - Go to the building among the shops at
134340, 83450. - Find the safe upstairs and enter any combination. The number no longer matters.
- Kill the police that turn up.
That gets you sent to prison. Head to the entrance and the chain starts.
The rules inside
Read these before you start, because the game does not warn you.
- The missions must be done in order. Talk to the wrong NPC, interact with the wrong object, use the stairs from a floor you are not cleared for, or enter an area you have no authorisation for, and you die.
- Do not leave the prison. Walking out mid-chain marks you a snitch, and you pick up a penalty mission of 200 prisoner kills before your normal progression will continue.
- Watch the dialogue choices. Playboys Painful Pleasure in tier 3 asks you a question. The wrong answer gets you called a snitch and costs you 50 extra kills in the yard before he will hand the mission over.
- In tier 4, do not kill a S.O.R.T officer during Mamba Mutiny's 10,000 inmate stage.
The four tiers
Each tier is a chain on the wiki, with the giver and reward for every mission:
- Tier 1, thirteen missions, from 50 inmates up to PvP objectives
- Tier 2, nine missions, up to 500 inmates
- Tier 3, eight missions, up to 1,000
- Tier 4, seven missions of 5,000 each, plus Mamba Mutiny
A fair number of the tier 1 and tier 2 objectives are PvP kills rather than mobs, so the prison is not purely a grind against AI.
One NPC in tier 4, the Enforcer, appears to have no mission at all. He is not on the wiki for that reason.
The yard
The yard workouts can be run alongside the main chain, and they pay in items rather than skills: gold coins, hooch, rolled smokes and teleman coin blueprints. Each one needs a certain amount of prison progress before it opens, and that is not fully documented. The Prison Curl Workout is the one confirmed gate: it opens after the final tier 2 mission.
The 70lb Dumbbell Workout is bugged and cannot be completed. It is on the wiki marked obsolete so nobody wastes an evening on it.
There are also two hall missions, Prison Life and No Way Out Maximum Security Prison, both 50 inmates. Neither pays a skill. Completing them is what enables the next mission to be started.
The Great Escape
Finish tier 4, walk out through the main doors, and the escape sequence starts on its own.
- Get to the Warden's office.
- Find the shed and get through undetected. Houdini is near the shipping containers.
- Get to the water tower.
- Survive the fall and return to the yard.
- Start a Riot: kill 10,000 inmates or cops.
- Get to the roof, then the lighthouse.
- Signal a boat to the island, get to the docks, swim out into the ocean.
- Shark Attack: kill 100 Crunk Sharks.
- Move location and check out the ocean floor.
- Shark Attack 2: kill another 100 Crunk Sharks.
- Swim to freedom, heading for the small island.
- Find the crate of supplies on the beach and enter 5879 to disarm it.
You come out with 1 Strength and three items: a Company cellphone, a set of keys, and a Top Secret Company files folder. Those three are what open the Company missions.
After the prison
The Cure is a Company mission from the Medical Officer inside the Company Safe House. It is scored on points rather than a flat count, against intelligent zombies: Prospects 1, Enforcers 2, Decomposing 3, Nomads 4, Outlaws 5, to a total of 50,000.
It pays a Company Issued Zombie Vaccine, which gives access to infected and contaminated zombies. There is a Rogue Trader NPC in the penthouse of the Chelsea building who will exchange the vaccine for a Mindkey, which appears to start Virus Kong waves in Hell. Think before you trade: the vaccine is tradeable and the Mindkey is not.
If you are not a prisoner and want out
You can end up inside without meaning to, by dying near the prison land area and reviving in it, or just by exploring. If you are a visitor you are free to leave at any time, but the same rules apply while you are inside: do not walk down the stairs and do not talk to the NPCs. Both kill you.
From either revive station in the main hall, jump down onto the main floor. Then:
If you have a flying vehicle, go out to the main yard, spawn it and fly away.
To reach the one-way teleporter, which will take you to any teleporter on the planet: face west and you will see the staircase, a bench press and a boxing heavy bag. Walk toward the heavy bag and pass just to the right of it, and a passageway opens up behind the wall. Take it, go through the doors, turn right, go to the end of the room, and take the doorway on the left. Up the staircase, leave at the third level (the next to last) and enter the empty room. Turn left, left again, and take the staircase you find there. It winds around and comes out at the teleporter.
To reach the yard and spawn a vehicle, go east from the middle of the main hall, passing just south of some tables. At the wall turn right, go through the doors into the mess hall, and go straight to the wall with the trade terminal, repair and crafting machine. Take the door on the right, follow the hallway to the room with the cage, and go through the double doors. That puts you out on the yard.
One last thing: the guard by the main stairs in the main hall is not an NPC, he is a televator. He will take you down to level 0, where there are a few prison cell shops, some of them active.
