About professions in Entropia Universe
Professions are how Entropia Universe turns raw skills into levels. Each profession is a weighted combination of individual skills: your Laser Sniper (Hit) level, for example, is computed from rifle, marksmanship, and related skills. This database lists professions across combat, mining, crafting, mindforce, and the newer disciplines.
Profession levels are the numbers that matter in practice: they determine which items you can use effectively, when a SIB item stops giving bonus skill gains, and how your hit and critical abilities develop. When players say they are "level 40", they mean a profession level, not a skill.
Frequently asked questions
How are profession levels calculated?
Each profession weights a set of skills, and the weighted total produces your level. Training any contributing skill nudges the profession upward, with heavily weighted skills mattering most.
What is the difference between Hit and Damage professions?
Weapon use is split into two professions: Hit governs your ability to hit and is checked against the weapon's recommended level, while Damage governs your chance to deal maximum and critical damage.
Why do profession levels matter for gear?
Items list recommended levels, and using gear far above your level means poor performance. Matching gear to your profession level, especially within SIB ranges, is the standard way to progress economically.
