A society on Entropia Central is ours, not the game's. We do not read your in-game society, so joining one here is a separate act from joining one in Entropia Universe. Most people run the two in parallel with the same roster, but nothing keeps them in step for you.

Everything below lives on one screen: **Dashboard, Social, Society tab**. There is no separate public society page on the website today; the society, its members and its standing are all shown there, to its members.

Your avatar has to be [claimed](https://www.entropiacentral.com/documentation/account/creating-an-account#what-happens-to-your-avatar-name) first, and an avatar can belong to one society at a time.

## Creating one

The create form asks for four things, only the first of which is required.

| Field | Rules |
| --- | --- |
| Name | Up to 100 characters, must not already be taken, checked for profanity |
| Description | Up to 10,000 characters. Basic formatting survives, everything else is stripped |
| Discord invite link | Must be a `discord.gg` or `discord.com` invite URL |
| Discord webhook | Kept private, never shown to members, stored encrypted |

The description is sanitised rather than rejected. Paragraphs, line breaks, bold, italic, underline, headings and lists are kept; anything else, including links, scripts and styling, is removed silently on save.

The webhook is the same mechanism described in [Discord webhooks](https://www.entropiacentral.com/documentation/custom-notifications/discord-webhooks), and it is for notifications rather than for members to click.

Creating a society makes you its Leader and its first member.

**There is no edit form yet.** Name, description and Discord links are set when you create the society and cannot be changed from the website afterwards.

## Joining one

Two routes in, and they meet in the middle.

**You ask.** Browse the societies list on the Society tab and use Join. That sends a join request, which a Leader or Manager approves or declines. The request shows as pending on your side until then, and you can cancel it.

**They ask.** A Leader or Manager invites you by avatar name. The invitation appears at the top of your Society tab with Accept and Decline, and a count on the tab itself.

An invitation only works on an avatar that exists, is linked to an account, and is not already in a society. Inviting an avatar nobody has claimed fails, which is the usual reason a name that clearly exists cannot be invited.

A society holds up to 300 members.

## Roles

| Can | Member | Manager | Leader |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| See the roster and standing | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Invite, and approve join requests | No | Yes | Yes |
| Kick a Member | No | Yes | Yes |
| Kick a Manager | No | No | Yes |
| Promote and demote Managers | No | No | Yes |
| Leave | Yes | Yes | No |
| Delete the society | No | No | Yes |

Nobody can kick the Leader.

**The Leader cannot leave**, and there is no way to hand leadership to somebody else. If you founded a society and want out, deleting it is the only option the site gives you, so pick your founder with that in mind.

## Society points

Societies are ranked by points, and a society's points are simply **the sum of its current members' points**. There is no separate scoring system: each member's total comes from their own avatar [leaderboard points](https://www.entropiacentral.com/documentation/globals/leaderboards#how-points-are-earned), on the same rolling three month window.

Two consequences follow from that word "current". Recruiting an active avatar adds everything they have already earned in the window, immediately. Losing one takes it all away again. Standings move on roster changes as much as on play.

The society board covers the same categories as the individual boards, meaning overall, hunting, mining, space mining, construction and PvP.

**It rebuilds once a day, at 00:15 UTC**, fifteen minutes after the avatar leaderboards it is built from. Nothing here is live.
