---

Every land area we have seen in a global has a page, whether or not its owner knows it exists. The statistics on it are built from tracked globals and belong to the record. What an owner adds is the context around them: a description, taxes, a waypoint, images and a video.

## What the page shows

A land area page at `/landareas/<name>` is public and needs no account to read.

| Section | Contents |
| --- | --- |
| Header | Cover image, and a looping profile video if one is set |
| Key stats | Total globals, total value, average value, highest value |
| About | The owner's description, plus owner, planet and tax chips |
| Waypoint | A ready `/wp` command to copy, when planet and both coordinates are set |
| Activity | A chart over day, week, month or year, filtered to overall, hunting or mining, with daily, weekly and monthly trends |
| Hunting and mining | Globals and value per profession, with top creatures and top deposits |
| Managers | Whoever the owner has added |

None of the statistics are editable, by anyone. They are read from globals in the same way as everything else on the site, so a land area with poor tracking coverage shows less activity than it really had. See [how globals are tracked](https://www.entropiacentral.com/documentation/globals/how-globals-are-tracked#why-a-global-might-be-missing).

## Claiming a land area

**There is no claim button, deliberately.** A land area is real property and we are not in a position to verify a deed automatically, so ownership is assigned by hand.

Open a support case from your dashboard, name the land area and say who you are in game. If you can point at something checkable, an in-game deed or an announcement, say so in the first message; it is what decides how quickly this moves. Support cases take a title of 5 to 200 characters and a message of 10 to 5,000, and you get replies in the same thread.

Once ownership is assigned, the land area appears under **Dashboard, Landarea Management**. That screen lists everything you own or manage, and is empty until then.

## What an owner or manager can change

Open the land area from Landarea Management and use **Manage Landarea**.

| Field | Rules |
| --- | --- |
| About | 250 characters, plain text |
| Planet | Chosen from the known planets |
| Hunting tax, mining tax | 0 to 10%, one decimal |
| Latitude, longitude | Numbers. Both, plus a planet, are needed before the waypoint appears |

The about text is checked the same way as [your own about text](https://www.entropiacentral.com/documentation/directory/customising-your-profile#why-your-about-text-keeps-getting-rejected): no angle brackets, no links or domain names, and profanity is filtered. Put your Discord in the description of your society or your profile rather than trying to slip a URL in here.

### Images and video

Three pieces of media, all optional, all edited on the same screen:

- **Profile image**, square. Used as the small identifying image.
- **Cover image**, roughly three times as wide as it is tall. It becomes the banner across the top of the public page.
- **Profile video**, which plays muted and looping on the page. You can pick one you have already uploaded from the recent uploads gallery instead of uploading again.

Formats and limits are the site-wide ones under [upload rules](https://www.entropiacentral.com/documentation/directory/customising-your-profile#upload-rules): JPG, PNG or WebP up to 5 MB, WebM up to 3 MB. Uploads go live immediately and are reviewed afterwards.

## Owners and managers

**Managers** are people the owner trusts to keep the page current. A manager can edit everything in the section above, including the images. A manager cannot add or remove other managers, and cannot transfer the land area.

The owner adds a manager by email address, and it has to be the email of an existing Entropia Central account. Adding somebody who has not registered fails. Managers are listed publicly on the land area page, by avatar name.

**Transferring ownership** is also by email, from the same screen. It is immediate and it is one way: you lose owner rights the moment it goes through, and only the new owner or an administrator can transfer it back.
